Abstract: The kidney and spleen are the principal organs producing blood cells in grass carp. Smears from kidney and spleen revealed three stages of blood cell development:the primitive stage,the immature stage and the mature stage.Morphological characters of the blood cells at different stages were described in this paper.A preliminary discussion was made on the nomenclature and developmental patterns of blood cells in the grass carp.
